Resource Planning

Assign people to engagements, track real-time utilization, and forecast capacity across the firm. Servantium surfaces over-allocation before it becomes a delivery problem.

Resource Planning provides visibility into team assignments, date-based hours, and capacity across your organization.

The Resources Module Layout

The Resources module (/resources) organizes personnel management into three top tabs:

TabPurpose
PlanningMaster Capacity & Planning Matrix with perspective switching (By project or By person).
ResourcesPersonnel directory table and card grid, resource profiles, and skill groups.
Resource PlansCatalog of active and archived staffing plans across engagements.

The Planning Matrix

The Planning tab provides a high-density matrix for managing project allocations and capacity.

Perspectives & Timeline Controls

  • By project / By person: Toggle whether primary rows group by project plans or individual team members.
  • Interval Toggle: Switch matrix granularity between Day, Week, and Month.
  • Load vs. Capacity Legend: Visual indicators for allocation levels: Under target (Amber, <80%), At target (Green, 80%-100%), or Over capacity (Red, >100%).

Multi-Cell 2D Selection & Drag-to-Fill

The planning matrix supports rectangular multi-cell selection and Excel-style drag-to-fill across resources and date columns.

  • Range Selection: Click and drag across hour inputs, or use Shift+Click or Ctrl/Cmd+Click, to highlight a 2D block of cells.
  • Multi-Selection HUD: A floating bar displays total selected cell counts (for example, “4 cells selected”). Press Escape or click Clear to dismiss.
  • Drag-to-Fill Handle: Drag the green corner handle on the bottom-rightmost selected cell across dates or resources to propagate values across all target cells.

Spreadsheet Keyboard Navigation & Batch Entry

  • Vertical Traversal: Press Enter (or NumpadEnter) to commit changes and move focus down to the same date column in the next editable row. Press Shift+Enter to move up.
  • Row Skipping: Navigation automatically skips non-editable rows, including group headers, summary footers, or out-of-bounds date cells.
  • Zero-Keystroke Editing: Focusing an hour cell automatically highlights all text so you can type a new value immediately.
  • Batch Entry: Typing a value while multiple cells are selected applies that number across every highlighted cell upon pressing Enter.

Resource Directory & Records

  • Directory Views: Switch between Table View and Card Grid View. Card Grid View displays initials, primary skill groups, allocation progress bars, utilization percentages, and active plan counts.
  • Skill Groups: Assign skill tags using the interactive Skill Groups chip field.
  • Plans Tab: View assigned plans in a clean table. Click + Add plan to assign resources to active project plans.
  • Capacity Tab: Review a 4-KPI metric strip (WEEKLY CAPACITY, PLANNED THIS WEEK, AVAILABLE, UTILIZATION) and an 8-week breakdown schedule with Soft Red and Mint warning highlights. Click + Add availability to record target hour overrides.
